Don’t miss your chance to visit the Harvest Festival at the historic Nelson Dairy farm in Suncadia this year. The event takes place during only the first two weekends of October, so there is only one weekend left (at the time of this writing) to come enjoy the harvest! The festival is packed with fun for the entire family. Food, drink, arts, crafts, games, musical entertainment, horseback and wagon rides are just a sampling of the activities you’ll find at this year’s event. The short video below was produced during the first weekend this year (October 5,6 and 7) and additional photos are also available on the WhyRoslyn facebook page. Additionally, by popular demand, a desktop wallpaper of the image to the left is now available here (right click the link and choose “save as” to download the image to your desktop).

On Labor Day Weekend, Roslyn hosted the Second Annual High Country Log Show. Axe throwing, pole climbing, log sawing, and obstacle courses were just a handful of the challenges featured in this year’s event. Congratulations to all of the competitors and thanks for making this a great show!

Labor Day Weekend is a great time to be in Roslyn to celebrate the days when coal was king! Come by and join the celebration during the 13th Annual Coal Miner’s Festival and enjoy music, games, a parade, and reminiscing about Roslyn’s coal rich past. The weekend will also boast the 2nd Annual High Country Log Show – where competitors scale 80 foot poles, throw axes, saw wood, and run obstacle courses while hundreds of spectators watch in awe. Looking for something to do with your four legged friend? You are covered there as well. On Saturday morning, bring your pooch to the Arrf Animal Rescue Doggie & Scavenger Hunt. Whatever your interests, you are sure to have a fun and enlightening experience in Roslyn this weekend (and the weather is shaping up to be very comfortable), so come on out and help us celebrate Roslyn’s rich history!

If you haven’t yet been to Roslyn, there may be no better time than during the Roslyn Sunday Market. Now in its eighth year, the Market will kick off on June 17th and run every Sunday until September 9th. In addition to the live musical entertainment; over 50 vendors attend each week bearing fruits, vegetables, baked goods, meats, arts, crafts, soaps, tasty treats, and more! This year, in addition to the traditional tamales and baked goods available in years past, the market is expanding its prepared food offerings to include BBQ, hand dipped cord docs, cheeses and more. This summer, let the Roslyn Sunday Market be a highlight of your weekend getaway in lovely Roslyn!

Come celebrate the music of Zimbabwe at the 2nd Annual Marimbas in the Mountains dinner and concert at the Cle-Elum Roslyn Elementary School. The evening will include a filling dinner of lasagna, caesar salad and garlic bread as you enjoy Cle Elum-Roslyn’s Pembera Youth Marimba and special guests – Yakima’s Zuva Marimba. Doors open at 5:30pm and tickets can be purchased at brownpapertickets.com. All proceeds benefit the Marimba program at Cle Elum-Roslyn Elementary School and Pembera Youth Marimba.

The snowfall that greeted Roslyn residents on Saturday morning wasn’t enough to damper the Second Annual ARRF Doggie Easter Egg hunt. About 20 dogs showed up to participate in the costume contest and hunt for treats in the field just off of Pennsylvania Avenue.  
The event is a fun way to drive awareness around animal adoption and to help raise money to support ARRF’s commitment to the care and welfare of companion animals in Upper Kittitas County.  Experience more of this event by viewing the brief video below.

Winter weather may have taken a little longer to show up this year, but it has definitely arrived in Northern Kittitas County. This is a perfect time of year to check out the over 600 miles of groomed recreational trails this area has to offer. A trail map is downloadable from the Cle Elum Roslyn Chamber of Commerce that includes detailed information about the following trail systems: Crystal Springs, Lake Easton, Salmon La Sac, Easton Reload, Gold Creek, Kachess, Price Creek Westbound, Blewett Pass, Elk Heights, Manastash, Mineral Springs, Reecer Creek, Last Resort, Taneum, Teanaway / 29 Pines, and Woods and Steel. Many of the trails have easy access to lodging and dining options in Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Ronald.
Exploring Coal Mines Trail

Coal Mines Trail is a pleasant, 4.7 mile, path that allows visitors to stroll in the footsteps of coal mining history. Though the trail actually starts in Cle Elum and extends to Ronald, it is easily accessible from Roslyn near the South-East end of Runje Field.
The trail follows the path of th
e Northern Pacific Railroad branch line developed in 1886 to transport coal from the Roslyn/Cle Elum Coal Field. In 1887, the branch was extended to the #3 Mine where Ronald developed. The Roslyn/Ronald line was operated until 1986, and then in 1994, it began its conversion to this public recreational trail.
Because this is a well maintained and level path, exploring the trail is a great way to spend the day in any season and for people of all ages.
