Carek's SignIf you frequent Roslyn, but haven’t yet stopped off at Carek’s Meat Market, you’re missing out on a destination that’s as historic as Roslyn itself.  Established in 1913, Carek’s has been providing quality meats to the surrounding community for over 100 years.  The Jerky, Peperoni, and Landjaeger might just be the best you’ll ever taste.   They even make Jalapeno Landjaeger for those that might prefer a little extra spice.  Still, it’s Carek's Meat Marketnot all about snacking on the go.  Carek’s carries an awesome selection of meat cuts, including New York Steak, pot roast, tip roast, ground beef and pork, franks, bacon and more.  Of course, you can also find a delicious array of homemade smoked specialties including bratwurst, Polish and German sausage, summer sausage, and spare ribs.  Whatever your preference, if you like meat, you’ll love Carek’s Meat Market.  Keep an eye out for their new sign on the East side of the highway as you roll into town – your taste buds will thank you. Need directions?  Click here!

The Roslyn Candy Company

Roslyn Candy Comapny LogoLast Summer, we featured a story about the new candy shop in Roslyn.  Recently, however, the candy shop changed ownership and has re-launched as the Roslyn Candy Company.  Much of the same great vintage candy and Winegar’s Ice Cream is still available at the shop, but now there is an even greater focus on the creation of hand crafted specialty chocolate treats. We sat down with owners Otto and Alesha to learn more about the shop’s new focus.  They are just getting things started, so be sure to swing by and to say hello and try some delicious chocolates.  The shop’s spring hours are 11am to 5pm every day except for Tuesday.

The Roslyn Sunday Market starts soon!

Roslyn Sunday MarketIf you haven’t yet been to Roslyn, there may be no better time than during the Roslyn Sunday Market.  Now in its eighth year, the Market will kick off on June 17th and run every Sunday until September 9th.  In addition to the live musical entertainment; over 50 vendors attend each week bearing fruits, vegetables, baked goods, meats, arts, crafts, soaps, tasty treats, and more!  This year, in addition to the traditional tamales and baked goods available in years past, the market is expanding its prepared food offerings to include BBQ, hand dipped cord docs, cheeses and more.  This summer, let the Roslyn Sunday Market be a highlight of your weekend getaway in lovely Roslyn!

A Visit to the Roslyn Brewery

The Roslyn Brewing Company has been brewing quality German-style lagers since 1990.  The Roslyn is a dark lager reminiscent of the original beers the Roslyn Brewery and Malting Company was brewing in the early 1900’s.  The Brookside is a pale lager hopped predominantly with Yakima hops and tastes delicious on a hot summer day.

This memorial day weekend, we had the pleasure of meeting with Kent Larimer, Roslyn Brewing Company’s head brewer, to discuss the brewery and enjoy a beverage in the taphouse.  We had a great time (as we always do) and enjoyed the beers and the conversations that accompanied them.  The next time you’re in town for the weekend, be sure to stop the brewery to see the gang, enjoy a refreshing beer, or fill a growler to go (which is a popular option for Roslyn area campers).
