Labor Day Weekend Fun in Roslyn!

Historically, Labor Day Weekend is one of the busiest times of the year in Roslyn, and this year is no exception. Right out of the gate, there is live music by Planes on Paper on Friday night (6:30pm) in the new Roslyn Yard park. Then, on Saturday, the two day High Country Log Show starts at 1pm to provide a weekend of entertaining logging competitions. Check out the video below for a peek at what previous years entailed.

Saturday night, you’ll want to attend the Roslyn, Ronald, Cle Elum Heritage Club’s celebration at the Stonehouse 101. This year’s event celebrates the heritage of the British Isles and will include British Cuisine, Irish Music, Celtic Dancing and more. The doors open at 5pm (tickets are $12 – and food/drink will be for sale inside). In addition to the Log Show, Sunday will bring more fun for the family with the crowning of this year’s King Coal at 10am followed by the Annual Coal Festival Parade at noon. If you haven’t visited in a while, you’ll also want to experience the great shops in the newly renovated historic NWI building!  Of course, the popular Sunday Farmers Market will also be open for business as usual! Come for a day or come for the weekend, either way, you’ll be glad you stopped in!

Roslyn Prepares for 125 Year Anniversary Celebration

Commemorative Wooden Nickel: Available at Roslyn area businesses

This Labor Day Weekend, Roslyn will celebrate its 12th Annual Coal Miner Days Festival.   This year is extra special because Roslyn is also celebrating the city’s 125th Anniversary.   The annual event pays tribute to those miners (and their families) who forged Roslyn’s rich history.  Over the course of the weekend, the city will host festivities that include music, vendors, a beer garden, food, games, a soap box derby, a logging show, and more!  It all builds up to the Heritage Ceremony, King Coal Crowning, and Grand Parade on Sunday.  Come out to Roslyn to share in the memories and celebrate the days when coal was king!  More information on activities and timing can be found here.

Tina-Marie leads the artistic effort to liven up Roslyn storefronts for the celebration.

The 7th Annual Paws On Parade

It’s not uncommon to see dogs perform tricks for treats, but on Halloween day, the dogs get dressed to trick-or-treat in Roslyn.  The weather was cooporative as the dogs of Roslyn showed off their costumes in this year’s Paws on Parade celebration.  Check out the video to see a sample of the parades participating pooches.
